Biophysical Profile

So I had my appointment today. All is well. He grew a little bit more and he has enough amniotic fluid, good muscle tone, good heart rate, and the umbilical cord looks good. So yes I'm relieved. The tech was having a hard time getting measurements because he was moving so much. At the end she showed me a picture of his face and he opened and closed his mouth. It was so cute. She took a picture. Unfortunately I can't post it because I don't know how. Last time I tried to post an ultrasound it didn't work. To give you an idea of how much he grew.. he was 2400 grams last time and this time he is 2500 grams since Saturday. He is still head down and facing the left side. He is floating as they would say so not dropped yet. So I doubt I'm dilating at all.
As far as life news, today I had a bit of a scare. It was snowing and I was going 35 on a 45 taking a slight curve in the road and my car spun one way and then the other and I ended up in a ditch with a big log fence to catch the impact from the rear. My car is a little dented on the trunk, not even where I hit. Weird. The steering wheel didn't touch my belly, luckily since my belly is so small compared to other women right now. I was just shaky. The girl with me was really calm about the whole thing. Some people driving by helped us get out of the ditch. I just feel bad someone was in the car with me. I have never gotten in an accident where I was the driver before. Anyway, so I have a slight backache and I know it is because of the pregnancy, however, my mind keeps saying that it could have been from that. Anyway, all is well but it wasn't something I was expecting to happen on this fine Tuesday morning!

37 Weeks and 2 days... MORE news than usual!

Hey Everyone, So we had our weekly visit today. It was with Dr. Barton. He is a cool old guy with a funny sense of humor. Anyway. Baby's heartbeat is good, urine sample good, negative Group B strep test.. which means I won't need antibodies injected during labor, and measuring my uterus good. The interesting part came when I asked if he could tell how much the baby weighs about. Then he says that I am actually measuring smaller than I'm supposed but nothing to concern myself with. But he immediately ordered an ultrasound, which is interesting because they don't have an ultrasound tech around on Saturdays ever but I guess they did today. So we were excited not expecting to have any ultrasound at all since our last one at 20 weeks. So we had the ultrasound. The baby weighs 2400 grams or in other words 5 lbs 4 oz. We are 37 weeks and 2 days but the baby is measuring 34 weeks and 2 days, so he is 3 weeks smaller than the average baby. Also I asked if the baby was facing forwards or backwards and she said he is actually facing the left, so no wonder I feel something big poking my right side and then pressure on my left hip for him pushing there. We went to talk to the doctor about the ultrasound and he said it could mean one of two things. Either he is just small for his gestational age or he has a condition called fetal growth retardation. This doesn't mean there is something wrong with him necessarily but that the uterus or placenta doesn't have enough fluid to allow the baby to grow so it is like he is restricted even though he would grow normal if there was enough room to allow him to. So anyway, the doctor decided to do something called a Biophysical Profile which means we will be coming in this next week on Tuesday and Saturday for ultrasounds and doctor's appointments to measure the growth of the baby between the days. So if he is growing at a good rate then the baby will just be considered normal and small. But if not the doctor will need to deliver him early. So most likely induced or something like that. So that's the news. I half would want him to come early but I will probably want an epidural for sure but I guess I will have to see. I know that when you are induced the really painful contractions come right away instead of progressing slowly. So that is why but if he comes naturally then I will try without medication.

36 Weeks and 3 days

So Perry and I bought a glider so that I could more comfortably rock the baby to sleep and breastfeed. It was 30 bucks and its old but it does the job. We had another appointment today and the doctor checked my cervix and I'm not dilated. He muttered something about 50% something but didn't explain himself. The baby also hasn't dropped yet. So I'm just waiting I guess. I did however lose 3 pounds since my last visit 2 weeks ago. Pretty sweet, since I have been exercising and really trying to eat all of the food groups with really healthy choices like no transfat, hydrogenated oils, fake sugars like corn syrup, fructose, sucralose, etc.. and no saturated fats. I think its working if I'm losing some pounds. Also my mom mentioned how I'm probably losing the extra weight I had gained over christmas break. Anyway so I still have normal weight gain. The Doc just said to come in if the baby doesn't get his fetal movements up, if I have bright red blood, if my water breaks or leaks, or if I have contractions every 5 minutes for over an hour. That's it. So I'm just preparing for the baby. We bought two valentines outfits at target today and some pure and natural huggies diapers, they are hypoallergenic, have aloe, vitamin e, organic cotton, and no fragrance. Great stuff! Anyway I will keep you posted.

Dresser!!

So we have been painfully looking for a dresser to purchase because we have way too many clothes and adding a baby to mix doesn't give us more space. So today I saw a dresser on the bulletin board from BYU-Idaho (Kind of like the schools version of craig's list). It was actually posted as a blog and I saw it. It was nice looking and $25. So I called the woman up to tell her we were interested. I asked if anyone had shown interest and she said that some people last night who were interested in buying a dresser bought their other dresser instead. And another person had emailed her but she hasn't received a response after replying to the email. I luckily only called because I noticed their phone number posted on the blog page. On the bulletin board there was only an email available. I got so lucky! Plus for some reason I decided not to have the car today so I was frantically trying to get a hold of Perry just praying that he would have a spare moment between work and school to bring the car to me. He did! His tutor appointment got out early and he had a whole hour of time to look at the dresser conveniently sooner than I had hoped. I was hoping obviously ASAP but was expecting more like 5 PM. He was able to come home about 45 minutes later and I called up the girl to say we would love to come look at it around 10:45AM. I was so anxious because every dresser we have looked at was either trashy, too expensive, or got snatched up! So I was so relieved when Perry could come. We drove over, looked at it (as well as a full length mirror) and bought it! It looked brand new, a light honey brown color with four drawers (as the picture shows). Perfect for our little home and for all the baby clothes we have for Grant. I'm so happy! I just can't express it well enough in a blog!

I am 35 Weeks and have 35 days to go!

How ironic with the days and weeks! We had a great Christmas break with my parents, and Megan and Blake. We relaxed and got a lot of sleep and reading accomplished, as well as a new outlook on how to live a healthy lifestyle. I'm really committed this time but so far I am left with one big damper! Sickness!!! I have a sore throat, cough, fatigue, slight headache and a body temperature that won't make up it's mind. I have so far been up to 99.0 which isn't really a fever and then down to 97.9. Whatever. I'm just trying to do the things I can do just sitting around with out over doing it. I have been doing my homework and taking occasional breaks to nap and relax. I first thought my sore throat was due to some heartburn that was the worst I have ever experienced and for the longest duration. Unfortunately it wasn't just heartburn and is now just full blown sickness. Anyway, so I worked out the day before I got sick and have been doing well with eating but I wish I could go to the gym! I made a whole new gym workout playlist to get me pumped and now I just have to wait and wait for this sickness to get on with it. Oh well. So I had a Dr.s appointment on Monday at 8:40AM and the doctor said Grant's heartbeat is strong and I am measuring what I should be. I am now 194 lbs and that means I gained 6 in three weeks. I'm not sure if that is good or bad but the doctor didn't say anything about it so I guess I'm fine. Also he dug his hands deep into my pelvic cavity on my lower abdomen and told us that Grant's head is down! Yay! That's good news because he was supposed to be head down by now ready for labor and delivery. I have another appointment in a week and a half and at that appointment I will have my Strep B test. I also can't forget to give the doctor my birth plan so that he can know my requests if possible. Anyway so that's what's been going on. Oh yeah and I have non painful contractions all of the time! They are annoying because I always have to pee when I get them. I feel like they happen often but I don't feel like it's preterm labor or anything. But I guess if I do get more than 4 in an hour I should probably at least call the doctor to make sure I'm fine. Anyway, so above is a picture of me at 34 weeks. I was showing off my hair, and I guess my bod but mainly my hair since I actually took the time to do it.
